Puppy Registration and Desexing: Guide to Responsible Pet Ownership
At Bellhaven, we prioritize responsible pet ownership. Register your puppy with your local council and ensure they receive proper care, including de-sexing at the appropriate age. We uphold high standards for pedigree dogs, ensuring every puppy is bred and raised responsibly. Your journey with a Bellhaven puppy begins with compliance, care, and commitment.
Your puppy needs to be registered with your local council at the age of 12 weeks. You will need to contact your local council for the relevant forms required.
De-sexing can be done from the age of 4 months old. Although we recommend closer to 6 months.
Please consult your veterinarian for further advice.
Your puppy has been bred in accordance with the MDBA registration requirements for pedigree dogs.
A litter registration will be submitted to the MDBA once the last pup from the litter has gone home. Individual dog papers will be issued to the buyer at the address supplied as soon as they have been desexed and we receive the desexing certificate.

What if i want to breed with my dog and not get it desexed?

All of our puppies are sold on limited register, which means not for breeding. When you get your registration certificate, it will say in big capital letters at the top, NOT FOR BREEDING.
We are only allowed to sell a dog or puppy on mains register if the new owner is a registered breeder with a source number. Puppies sold on mains register are also a lot more expensive.

To stop backyard breeding, we are now not allowed to give you your puppies registration certificate, until we receive a copy of the desexing certificate and/or vet report stating this.

In conclusion, if you want to buy a Bellhaven puppy, and you are not a registered breeder, not getting your dog desexed is NOT an option. This will also be in the sale contract that you will sign.
